Koali Niu is committed to safeguarding an ancient Hawaiian food system with the focus on gene-banking and safeguarding unique and rare ancient niu varieties found across Hawai‘i that are currently threatened by rapid genetic erosion.

We will do this by preserving the genetic diversity of Hawaiian coconuts, ensuring their survival for future generations while supporting local food security and cultural sustainability. By fostering awareness and educating the next generation, we aim to ensure the longevity and cultural significance of these invaluable resources.
